My Skincare Routine

Happy Monday! Today I am so excited to finally share my skincare routine, a post that has been highly requested and long overdue. Whether I am wearing makeup or not, I always get a lot of compliments and/or questions about my skincare routine. I always say that a flawless face starts with a flawless base! But if I am being completely honest, skin care goes a lot deeper than buying a variety of products. It all starts with living a healthy lifestyle! I eat clean, drink a lot of water, wash my bed sheets and makeup brushes at least once a week, and try to get at least eight hours of sleep a night.

When in came to establishing my overall skin care routine, in all honesty I owe it all to my mom. She has always done an amazing job with her own skin care and when my younger sister and I became tween/teenagers she started to teach us a few of her tricks and the overall importance of taking care of your skin. Granted that I no longer use some of the products that I used over 10 years ago, when I first started taking care of my skin; I have swapped out a few and made some additions to what works for me.

Before I jump into all the products, one product that I didn’t include in my current routine that I am currently on the hunt for is a great sunscreen. Preferably one that doesn’t leave a white cast on my skin! If you guys know of any, let me know.

Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser: I have been using this cleanser for as long as I can remember! Probably since 6th grade because that was when I started doing skincare stuff. Aside from being super affordable, I also love that it is not harsh on your skin. Since I have combination oily skin, I use this on my skin in the morning and at night. I pump a little bit on to my damp Clinique Spin Brush and then I rinse the product off with water.

Thayers Witch Hazel: Using a toner is probably one of the best things that you can do for your skin! It helps remove the excess dirt, refreshes your skin, cleanses your pores, and balances your skin’s PH level. After using my skin cleansers, I apply this product on a dry cotton ball and apply it on my face and and neck in an upward motion. Always upward, never downward! When it comes to skincare, with the exception of eye cream and treating breakouts, whatever you do to your face, you must do to your neck! This product is also super affordable and comes in a variety of scents, but I use the unscented version.
Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel:  This product has been my go-to moisturizer for years! As I mentioned above, I have combination-oily skin, so the gel works perfect for me! If you have dry skin, I recommend instead going with the lotion formula of this moisturizer. After applying my toner, I apply a pea-sized amount on my fingers and apply it on my face and on my neck in an upward motion.

Clinique Moisture Surge Replenishing Hydrator: I got a sample of this product a couple months ago and I was so obsessed that I went back to re-purchase the full size! I love my other Clinique foundation, but this one also feels so nourishing on the skin.So i use this at night, mainly because I do more intense cleaning. and I need to re-hydrate my skin.  Instead of using the moisturizing gel, that I use in the morning I use this moisturizer  instead at night. Mainly because I do a lot of cleansing and I need to re-hydrate my skin.

Clean Skin Club Towels: Out of all the products in my skincare routine, these disposable towels have made the most difference in my skin. I stumbled across these on a fellow blogger’s instagram and I am now hooked! They may just sound like towels without any product on them, but in the past, I have tried makeup remover wipes, but no matter the brand, it was too harsh on my skin. I also tried using a Makeup Eraser, which looking back, was definitely the worst thing that I could have ever done for my skin. I use these towels to remove my makeup and pat my face dry after using my skin cleansers. There are 50 towels in each box and you get a better deal when you purchase them in sets. For usage  reference, a pack of two lasts me about 3 1/2 months. Use my code “DARIA” on their website to get a discount on these towels and all of their other great products.

Garnier Micellar Cleansing All-in-1 Water: I use my Skin Club towels and this product to take off my makeup at night. This product is super affordable and just get’s the job done.  Granted I do use cleansers after using this product to ensure that I have removed everything, this product does a great job on removing 85% of my makeup, especially mascara! With Makeup Removers, my undereye’s are the most sensitive area on my face and this product is not harsh at all.
Drunk Elephant Beste No. 9 Jelly Cleanser: This came in the Sephora Birthday gift set and I love it! This was another new product that I was hesitant to use because I rarely venture out to try brands other than Clinique. So far, I love it and it isn’t harsh on my skin. It is very concentrated and a little so a little bit goes a long way when applying it on my damp Clinique Spin Brush.

Fresh Beauty Black Tea Firming and De-Puffing Eye Cream: This is another new product that I recently tried, so I will be sure to keep you all updated on the results if I see any. This product actually came in a set that I won in a giveaway! Eye cream is always a great addition to your skin care routine, but at the same time a question that I had to ask myself was WHEN would be a good time for me to start using eye cream. For me at 22 almost 23, at the moment I don’t need it but starting preventative skin care treatments is definitely something that I wanted to get into before it is “too late”.  I use this product 2 times a week and while I do like it, I do not think that I would re-purchase it. I have had my eyes on Murad’s Youth Renewal line that got really great review’s, but it is just so pricey!
Clinique 7 Day Scrub Cream Rinse-Off Formula: I have been using this exfoliator for years! I alternate between the Exfoliating Scrub (which is great for oily skin) and this one. This one is definitely creamier but to me there isn’t too much of a difference in the effects of either. I definitely do not recommend the Exfoliating Scrub if you have dry skin, because it has salicylic acid it is kind of “minty” on the skin and tingles in a refreshing manner. I exfoliate my skin once a week, putting the product on my face and then exfoliating my face with my Clinique Spin Brush.
Living Clay Detox Clay Mask : This is such a great mask! I do this once a week after I cleanse and exfoliate my skin. To create the mask, I make a concoction with the powder and water and mix it up with a q-tip. I then apply it with my Real Techniques Foundation Brush  (any flat tapered foundation brush will do!)  I leave it on for about 30 minutes and then wash it off with warm water. Afterwards I will then apply toner and moisturizer. I purchase this clay powder from my local Whole Foods, but you can also purchase it through the link that I provided.

Face Razors: Secret’s out, I shave my face! I started doing this about a year ago after reading a couple articles about how it helps with your makeup application. I do it about once a month and it really helps with my makeup going on a lot smoother.

Laser Hair Removal: I have received treatment on a few areas of my body! On my face, I have finished all the sessions for my upper lip.  Currently, I am finishing up treatment on my sideburns and my chin. If you live in San Antonio, I highly recommend getting your Laser Hair Removal done at Ideal Image.

Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment: This is one of my favorite lip balms to use, especially since I wear a lot of matte lipsticks. I have a few of them in different tints but I love how moisturizing they are on my lips. On days where I am not wearing any makeup, I will wear this product on my lips. But, I ALWAYS apply it before I go to bed.
